Spock and Ash Taylor are still in the “present”. The convoluted yet exciting timeline is sure to leave the fans wanting.

Here are some quick tidbits for you Trekkies:

Release Date: Anytime soon?

While the third season was confirmed more than a year ago, the exact release date still remains unknown, although filming is complete as per co-showrunner Michelle Paradise. The first season was aired in September 2017 and the second in January 2019, so expected release is around April this year, noting the 16-month gap between the previous releases.

Le Cast

Fans will be excited to know that most of the cast is confirmed to reprise in their roles. As per sources, they are:                                                                                                                                    The Star Trek: Discovery CastSonequa Martin-Green(Burnham), Doug Jones(Saru), Mary Wiseman(Sylvia Tilly), Wilson Cruz(Dr Culber), Oyin Oladejo(Lt. Joann), Emily Coutts(Keyla Detmer), Anthony Rapp(Paul Stamets), Michelle Yeoh(Emperor Georgiou).

The plot is heard to take a more “optimistic, traditional” approach in the upcoming season as per the writers. The series will be set in the 32nd century, a timeline that the show never explored, so this will be a new and untouched avenue, yet familiar, just like the show is defined by fans. Just a tinge of sadness: the crew will be captain-less as he stays back in the Enterprise. The resolution of command issue and inheritance of the chair will be two things fans will surely look out for.

Fan Theories

Fan theories range from absurd to crazy, like: maybe Control was Borg after all, Federation will become the bad guys in the far future or Pike making a starry comeback! Keep the adrenaline in control Trekkies, patience is a virtue
