Edge of Tomorrow 2: Is it Coming or Cancelled? Tom Cruise & Emily Blunt Returning? Release Date & Other Updates

Edge of Tomorrow is an action-based Hollywood movie that was released in 2014. The movie was adapted from a Japanese novel of the name All You Need Is Kill, written by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. It was directed by Doug Liman and was a huge hit! It grossed over $370.5 million and made a profit of over $270 million!

In April of 2016, the sequel was announced, and Doug was assigned to be the Director of the film. Almost a year later, it was announced that both Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt would be there to reprise their roles! But even after this, 3 years later during January of 2019 it was announced on Doug’s Instagram that the movie was still in the “early stages”.

So the movie is still being developed. Nothing about the Release Date has been announced, hence there’s nothing much to report on it. All that can be said is that it would be still a few years before the movie is released.

The entire cast list hasn’t been announced, but the main characters from the first movie are definitely returning. It was announced that both Tom and Emily would be back on the main stage! Other than them, the cast is yet to be revealed.

The bar for the sequel has been set very high. Doug said in an interview that the sequel would be better than the first movie and would “revolutionize the way we look at sequels”.

It was also revealed that the second movie would act as a prequel to the first one, even though it a would-be sequel.

Due to the current pandemic, all the filming and production for the movie must have stopped. All we can hope for now is that the crew gets back on track and release it ASAP!
