Narcos: Mexico is a crime/drama web TV series created by Chris Brancato, Carlo Bernard, and Doug Miro and was premiered exclusively on Netflix in 2018. Originally, Narcos: Mexico was supposed to be 4th season to the already present TV series Narcos. But the producers decided to create a spin-off series that will revolve around the drug trade in Mexico. And in hindsight, what a decision this was for them!
In December 2018, Netflix announced the renewal of the show for a second season, and that season was released in February of this year. As of now, a 3rd season hasn’t been announced, but the show hasn’t been canceled either. Moreover, the second season ended on such note so as to leave the possibility for a third season to follow. Examining how the previous two seasons came out, it can be speculated that the post-production for the 3rd season would start sometime around May 2021.
The story revolves around Felix Gallardo, the drug lord of the Mexican cartel. He is played by actor Diego Luna for the first two seasons. The story unfolds as to how Felix manages the drug trades and exchanges all around Mexico in the 1970s. By the 1980s, he has his hands on almost whatever he wants, but as the latest season of the show tells us, it didn’t last long for him.
By 1989, he was arrested by the Mexican Government on account of various crimes and was put in prison for 37 years. We don’t know how the story will proceed from here on out, considering Felix ends up in Jail, but we can sure hope that it will be amazing.
The cast for the next season will more or less be the same, without Diego Luna, of course, as his character is in Jail. Actors Caro Quintero, Don Neto, Isabella, Scoot McNairy, and Flavio Medina are all expected to return as the main cast to play their characters. It will be a bit of a challenge for the writers to make the show engaging without Felix, but we can sure hope it’s going to be amazing!
