The Expanse is an American science fiction drama television series based on the series of novels that goes by the same name written by James S. A. Corey. It is developed by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby and produced by Penguin in a Parka, Alcon Entertainment, Hivemind, Amazon Studios, Sean Daniel Co, and Just So. The series premiered on 14th December 2015 on SyFy and is presently also available on amazon prime video. It has produced a total of 46 episodes, each one being an hour-long on an average with five seasons.

The series is set 100s of years in the future where the Mars and the asteroid belt are under the colonization of humanity. The three major forces which exist are the Martian Congressional Republic on Mars, the United Nations of Earth and Luna, and a loose configuration of the asteroid belt and the moons of Jupiter and Saturn, the Outer Planets Alliance or the OPA, i.e., the Martians, Earthers, and Belters.

Hollywood is currently facing a huge slowdown because of the Coronavirus pandemic, which has resulted in a global lockdown. On the one hand, though the production of many shows and movies have suffered, star Shohreh Aghdashloo confirmed that they did wrap up the shooting for the fifth season before the lockdown.
However, the completion of shooting does not mean that the episodes are ready to be released. The makers do have a headstart, but they are not completely prepared at the moment. The expanse as a series has a lot of special effects that will only be added after everything gets back to normal. Till then, we, unfortunately, do not have any news regarding its trailer, release date, or plot. What we do have is the chance to binge-watch the previous seasons!
