The Dr. Stone franchise will be getting a stage adaptation this summer! Dr. Stone is a Japanese sci-fi fantasy manga series written by Riichiro Inagaki (Eyeshield 21) and illustrated by the South Korean artist Boichi (Sun-Ken Rock). The story begins when one fateful day a blinding flash of light petrifies all of humanity. When Taiju wakes up after several millennia he finds himself in a world of statues, but luckily he isn’t alone. Taiju’s best friend and science geek, Senku, has been awake for a couple of months and he has a grand plan – to kick-start human civilization using the power of science.
From March 2017 to March 2022 the manga was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. As of March 2022 the manga’s chapters have been collected into twenty-five tankobon volumes. The English version of the manga has been licensed by Viz Media in North America. In January 2019, the series was “simulpublished” in English on the website and app Manga Plus by Shueisha.
