Interceptor is an exciting action and adventure movie new to Netflix today, June 3. Spanish actress Elsa Pataky stars and her husband, fellow actor Chris Hemsworth, is an executive producer. Does Hemsworth appear on-screen with his wife?
Pataky plays heroine JJ Collins, a world-weary woman delegated to a lone nuclear missile interception base in the Pacific Ocean after being pushed out of her dream job at the Pentagon.
Pataky is joined by a talented group of actors that includes several fellow Australians, like Luke Bracey who acts opposite of Pataky as the film’s primary antagonist Alexander Kessel. Fans might also be surprised to know that Pataky’s real-life husband, Chris Hemsworth, also worked on the movie as an executive producer.
In fact, when we spoke to Pataky in May, she told us that the Thor actor was very supportive of her taking on a leading role in an action movie. It’s fitting that their collaborative effort is coming out early this month since Hemsworth’s next movie, a psychological thriller called Spiderhead, is coming to Netflix in just a few weeks.
Of course, just because Hemsworth is an actor and working on this film in a producer capacity, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s in the movie, does it? Well, the pair have worked together before on films like 12 Strong. Keep reading to find out what role, if any, Hemsworth plays in the project.
Is Chris Hemsworth in Interceptor?
Yes, Hemsworth has a minor role in Interceptor and appears a few times throughout its run.
Instead of playing his usual strapping superhero role, Hemsworth instead dons a wig, glasses and a beard to play a store associate at a gadget-heavy retail store. All of his scenes are relatively short, with his character functioning as an audience stand-in. I don’t want to reveal too much more so as not to spoil anything significant to the film’s plot.
If you are a Hemsworth fan, you should watch the movie to support him and his wife. Make sure you stay past the credits, too, as there is a short post-credits scene featuring Hemsworth’s character!
