Netflix’s hit drama, The Crown, is a definite must watch if you’re interested in history. And if you’re invested in Princess Diana and the Royal Family, then you’ll really want to tune into the show’s fifth season. But unfortunately, it’s not coming to Netflix just yet.
We still have some time to wait until The Crown season 5 drops on the streaming service. We do know that in the fifth season, Imelda Staunton is taking over as Queen Elizabeth from actress Olivia Coleman. Other new actors getting the royal treatment are Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, and Dominic West will take on the role of Prince Charles in the upcoming season.
The show has already been renewed for a sixth and final season. So the fifth installment is the penultimate season! There’s going to be a lot to cover, including the turbulent early 90s and Princess Diana’s death.
The Crown season 5 release date
The good news is that we do know when season 5 will be released! The historical drama is coming back to Netflix sometime in November 2022. It’s been a while that production started. Filming for the season began in July 2021.
It’s very exciting that we’ll be getting The Crown season 5 in just a few months. Almost all of the previous seasons, except season 2, have been released in November a year apart between seasons. So it’s not really surprising that we have this release date for the fifth installment as well.
And some more good news! Variety reports that the sixth and final season is set to begin filming in August of this year, just a couple of months away! The cast and crew are going to be hard at work getting this magnificent series back on our screens and we can’t wait!
The Crown seasons 1-4 are now streaming on Netflix.
