Olivier Assayas’s Irma Vep is back, but this time on the small screen in the form of an enthralling miniseries starring Alicia Vikander. But is it available on Netflix?
The 1996 classic feature Irma Vep starred legendary actress Maggie Cheung who played an actress struggling to justify the actions of her eccentric middle-aged director to the crew and journalist as she stars in the struggled filmmaker’s attempt to remake the classic silent film from Louis Feuillade called Les Vampires. Now over two decades later, Assayas has written and directed a new version of the enigmatic tale as a series with Vikander in Cheung’s role.
Also starring in the outstanding miniseries is a stellar lineup of talent that includes Morbius actress Adria Arjona, The Sandman‘s Tom Sturridge, Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Fala Chen, and Portlandia creator Carrie Brownstein. The series had its premiere at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, and since then, the enticing affair has garnered significant critical acclaim.
The rating the series has achieved on Rotten Tomatoes is nothing short of impressive, and there is a significant amount of praise being thrown at Vikander’s perfect performance, which isn’t surprising given how many times she has exceeded expectations in the past.
Is Irma Vep available on Netflix?
Anything Vikander stars in is a must-watch endeavor, and many people would love to watch her titles on the streamer. As far as Irma Vep goes, the series is not available on Netflix, and it is rather unlikely that this will change any time soon.
But this doesn’t mean subscribers won’t be able to find anything worthwhile to watch when they log in to the streaming powerhouse’s platform. Netflix has tons of intriguing dramas ready to stream right now, including Stranger Things, The Lincoln Lawyer, The Umbrella Academy and Outer Banks, just to name a few.
