The School for Good and Evil release updates, cast, synopsis, teaser and more


As in true Netflix fashion, the preparation for new TV series and films for 2022 has already begun. In addition to the films coming to the streaming platform from the deal with Sony, there are tons of original movies that will be released as,  including the fantasy film, The School for Good and Evil.

The School for Good and Evil is a film in which Netflix acquired the rights for last year and will be directed by Bridesmaids and A Simple Favor director Paul Feig.

The School for Good and Evil release updates

As of right now, there is no specific date as to when the film will release, but we do know that the film is expected to release sometime in 2022. On June 7 at Netflix Geeked Week 2022, the streamer announced that The School for Good and Evil will be coming to Netflix this fall. More specifically, sometime in September. We’ll definitely share the official release date when it’s announced.

According to Collider, The School for Good and Evil started filming at The Belfast Harbour Studios in Northern Ireland in early 2021. Filming wrapped in July 2021.

According to IMDb, the cast for The School for Good and Evil consists of some heavy-hitting, star-studded actors and actresses. The cast for the upcoming movie is as follows:

  • Charlize Theron as Lady Lesso
  • Michelle Young as Professor Anemone
  • Laurence Fishburne as The Schoolmaster
  • Kerry Washington as Professor Dovey
  • Sofia Wylie as Agatha

The cast also features Earl Cave, Kit Young, Sophie Anne Caruso, and Jamie Flatters playing the roles of Hort, Rafal, Sophie, and Tedros, respectively.

The School for Good and Evil synopsis

The School for Good and Evil is about a young girl named Sophie who yearns for adventure and exciting beginnings. In her world called Gavaldon, it is an honor to be selected to attend The School of Good or The School of Evil. Upon their selection, Sophie and her friend, Agatha, learn that fate doesn’t lie in the hands of the beholder as they are sent to schools completely different than they desired.

Here is the official synopsis:

A group of boys and girls are taken to an institution where they are trained to become fairy tale-like heroes and villains.

The film is adapted from the novel of the same name written by Soman Chainani. The novel has been well-received by critics like The Guardian and has become a fan-favorite amongst its young-adult audience.
