Is Hustle starring Adam Sandler on Netflix based on a true story?

-

Hustle starring Adam Sandler is now available to stream on Netflix and people are wondering if the sports drama film is based on a true story. That’s no problem for us! We’ve answered this question right below!

Hustle is a new original movie directed by Jeremiah Zagar from a screenplay co-written by Taylor Materne and Will Fetters. Besides Sandler, Queen Latifah, Ben Foster, Juancho Hernangómez, Robert Duvall, and many others star in the film.

After a theater release on June 3, Netflix subscribers were finally able to watch Hustle on the streamer on June 8. Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long for the sports drama to skyrocket to the top of Netflix’s top 10 movie list. As of June 10, it’s currently holding the No. 1 spot with no signs of dropping from the list. I mean, the cast includes many famous actors and athletes, and the plot is gripping enough to grab anyone’s attention. So its instant popularity was expected.

Seeing as though many sports drama films are typically based on true stories, it makes sense for one to wonder if Hustle does as well. Below, you’ll find out if the new movie is based on a true story or completely fictionalized.

Is Hustle based on a true story?

If you had thought Hustle was based on a true story, you’d be sadly mistaken. It is simply a well-written and acted fictionalized piece. Adam Sandler’s character, Stanley Sugerman, is not a real scout and coach for the Philadelphia 76ers basketball team, nor is Bo Cruz (Juancho Hernangómez) a real streetball player from Spain. However, Juancho Hernangómez is an actual basketball player who currently plays for the Utah Jazz, and the Philadelphia 76ers is an actual basketball team of the National Basketball Association.

Also, there are many real-life current and former NBA basketball players who play themselves and make appearances in the movie, such as Trae Young, Jordan Clarkson, Khris Middleton, Aaron Gordon, Kyle Lowry, Seth Curry, Luka Doncic, Tobias Harris, Tyrese Maxey, Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, Allen Iverson, and more.

So there you have it, folks! Hustle is not based on a true story. Instead, it is created by the creative minds of Taylor Materne and Will Fetters.

Hustle is now streaming on Netflix.
