Spiderhead cast: Chris Hemsworth as Steve Abnesti

Chris Hemsworth plays the film’s lead antagonist, tech genius Steve Abnesti, the mastermind behind Spiderhead and its various experiments.

Where have you seen him before? Hemsworth is a superstar and an instantly recognizable actor thanks to his scene-stealing portrayal of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Besides Marvel, Hemsworth has acted in tons of other notable movies like Ghostbusters, Bad Times at El Royale, Men in Black: InternationalThe Cabin in the WoodsVacation, In the Heart of the SeaSnow White and the Huntsman and The Huntsman: Winter’s War. Hemsworth has also appeared in Netflix films like Interceptor and Extraction.

What’s next? He’ll return to Netflix yet again for Extraction 2 and you can also watch him in the next big Marvel movie, Thor: Love and Thunder in July. After that, Hemsworth will star in the Mad Max: Fury Road prequel/spinoff film Furiosa opposite Anya Taylor-Joy.

Spiderhead cast: Miles Teller as Jeff

Miles Teller plays one of the prison inmates, Jeff, who agrees to undergo Abnesti’s experiments to reduce his sentence. He starts to care for another inmate and tries to outmaneuver the experiment to help her.

Where have you seen him before? Teller is a pretty big star in his own right, especially right now as he’s just come off starring in the acclaimed Top Gun sequel, Top Gun: Maverick. He also recently starred in the Paramount+ series The Offer, about the development of the landmark film The Godfather.

Before that, Teller rose to fame with his performance in the Oscar-nominated movie Whiplash. Other roles he’s known for include the Divergent film series, Fantastic Four, That Awkward Moment, War Dogs, Only the Brave, Thank You For Your ServiceThe Spectacular Now and Bleed for This.

What’s next? Teller will reunite with Shailene Woodley for a political satire film called The Fence alongside William Hurt. He will also lend his voice to the lead role in The Ark and the Aardvark, an upcoming English-language Swiss computer animated film.

Spiderhead cast: Jurnee Smollett as Lizzy

Jurnee Smollett plays the film’s female lead, Lizzy, another prisoner who bonds with Jeff.

Where have you seen her before? Smollett has been in the industry for a while, notably for starring in the acclaimed drama Friday Night Lights.

More recently, she played Dinah Laurel Lance/Black Canary in the DC film Birds of Prey and starred in the HBO series Lovecraft Country. Some of the other shows she’s appeared on include True Blood, Underground, The Twilight Zone and Parenthood.

What’s next? Smollett will reportedly reprise her role as Black Canary in the upcoming Batgirl film and in a Black Canary spin-off series at HBO Max. She will also appear in the courtroom drama The Burial opposite Jamie Foxx and Tommy Lee Jones for Amazon Studios.

Spiderhead cast: Meet the supporting players

  • American actor Charles Parnell plays Knowles and has previously appeared in all sorts of projects, including Top Gun: MaverickTransformers: Age of Extinction and he played series regular role Master Chief Russ Jeter on the series The Last Ship. He has also lent his voice to many video games, like Mass Effect: Andromeda and Avengers.
  • Playing Rogan is Australian actor, powerlifting champion, strongman and former professional wrestler, Nathan Jones.  While he has done some acting over the years, he’s better known for the time he spent in the WWE and his mixed martial arts career.
  • Australian actress and model Tess Haubrich plays Heather in the movie. You might recognize Tess from Alien: Covenant, The Wolverine or Wolf Creek.
  • Australian actress BeBe Bettencourt plays Emma. She is best known for playing Hedwig in the Stan series Eden and Eleanor “Ellie” Deacon in the movie The Dry.
  • Mark Paguio plays Verlaine and has previously appeared in titles like Lonesome and Bump.
  • Australian actor Sam Delich is Adam in Spiderhead. You might have seen him in Mr Inbetween or RFDS.
  • Latino actor Joey Vieira portrays Miguel. You’ve seen him in Young Rock, Dora and the Lost City of Gold and Romance on the Menu.
  • Daniel Reader plays Ryan and recently appeared in the Peacock series Joe vs. Carole where he played Arthur.
  • Ron Smyck, who portrays Dave, is known for Nekrotronic and Zelos.
  • Ray actor Stephen Tongun is best known for appearing in the award-winning Australian drama Stateless.
