5 good Netflix shows this Father’s Day weekend: God’s Favorite Idiot


As the weekend rolls around, be sure to set aside time for some great Netflix shows. The new release list for June 2022 is impressive, with numerous choices to pique your interest. Check out our binge-worthy shows recommendations below.

If you look at this week’s Netflix Top 10 TV shows list, you will see several repeats, including Stranger Things, All American, First Kill, Peaky Blinders, Ozark, and The Lincoln Lawyer.

God’s Favorite Idiot

The Netflix original God’s Favorite Idiot is a comedy created by and starring Ben Falcone, his wife Melissa McCarthy, and Leslie Bibb and Kevin Dunn.

Falcone portrays Clark, a man who begins to glow after being struck by lightning. His co-workers, including his girlfriend Amily (McCarthy), believe this is something divine, which is confirmed when an angel appears to him. The angel tells him he is God’s messenger and must prevent the impending apocalypse.

With Falcone and McCarthy involved, this is sure to be a comedy you won’t want to miss.

Web of Make Believe: Death, Lies and the Internet

The limited anthology Web of Make Believe: Death, Lies and the Internet is directed by Brian Knappenberger, Luminant Media and Imagine Documentaries and executive produced by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer.

The docuseries opens up the world of modern misinformation and digital deception of American households and the consequences that arise, sometimes ending in tragedy. The stories include an online gamer who participates in “swatting,” calling in bogus reports that require a SWAT team to be sent to a location. This story ends in tragedy.

Other stories include one woman’s tale of becoming a spokesperson for white nationalist hate speech, a sextortion case, an IRS heist, and a conspiracy surrounding a murdered political staffer in 2016. These stories showcase what happens when reality is warped in the web of misinformation.


The Spanish drama series, Intimacy, has released its first season on Netflix, and it quickly made its way to the Netflix Top 10 shows list.

The story follows Malen, the Deputy Mayor of Bilbao, who has a promising future in politics, whose life is uprooted when a sex tape is released to the press. The video shows Malen and a man, who isn’t her husband, having sex on a beach, which is widely circulated, causing much chaos in her private and professional life. This theme carries on to other lives in this series bringing up the questions of the boundaries of intimacy and what happens when people’s private lives become topics of the public conversations.

Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend

The new cooking series Iron Chef: Quest for an Iron Legend is a reboot of Iron Chef and Iron Chef America. This series sees the return of Alton Brown as co-host with Kristen Kish and Mark Dacascos as The Chairman.

The five new Iron Chefs for this series’ first season are Curtis Stone, Dominique Crenn, Marcus Samuelsson, Ming Tsai, and Gabriela Cámara. The Iron Chefs go up against the contestants to prepare a dish centered around a secret ingredient revealed by The Chairman. The highest scoring challenger returns at the end in a cook-off against all of the Iron Chefs who will become an Iron Legend and receive the Golden Knife if successful.

Dead End: Paranormal Park

A new animated series described as spooky but sweet, Dead End: Paranormal Park, is now available on Netflix. This series is based on the horror-comedy graphic novels DeadEndia and the web short Dead End by Hamish Steele.

The series tells of Barney, Norman, and the magical talking dog Pugsley, who work at a haunted house theme park over the summer and battle the paranormal forces also at work there. They encounter a thousand-year-old demon named Courtney, their guide to the underworld.
