Spiderhead starring Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller, and Jurnee Smollett, will finally make its landing on Netflix on June 17 and people are more than ready to set their eyes on the thriller film.
Spiderhead is a Netflix original movie directed by Joseph Kosinski from a screenplay co-written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. It’s a film adaptation of the dystopian short story Escape from Spiderhead by George Saunders.
The story takes place in a near-future society. It follows two inmates who form a bond while imprisoned in a penitentiary run by a visionary who provides mysterious experimental drug testing programs to the prisoners. If the prisoners choose to participate in the programs, they’re given a reduced sentence. Obviously, the prison overseer has ulterior motives for his programs, so the two inmates must team up to survive whatever is thrown at them.
Other than Hemsworth, Teller, and Smollett, Tess Haubrich, BeBe Bettencourt, Charles Parnell, Nathan Jones, Mark Paguio, Joey Vieira, and many others star in the film. So is Spiderhead appropriate for kids to be watching? We answered this burning question right below!
Spiderhead parents guide and age rating
The thriller film is rated R, meaning it may be unsuitable for ages 17 and under. It was given this age rating due to some of the content shown in the film that many parents would consider inappropriate for younger kids to be watching. In the movie, there will be violent and sexual content shown, alcohol and drug use, and the use of various weapons. There will also be mild bloody content and profanity used by some of the characters. It’s important to note that even though there’s sexual content, no nudity is shown. Still, we recommend watching Spiderhead when the kids are tucked in and ready for bed.
