The Martha Mitchell Effect showcases the titular figure’s attempts to stop President Nixon’s lies and expose the truth about a corrupt regime. The wife of a Republican cabinet was privy to all sorts of dirty little secrets, and when she tried to bring the truth to the public, the Nixon administration gaslit her to keep her quiet.
