Is the comedy film okay for kids?

It’s almost the weekend which means many parents and families will be looking for a fun new movie to watch together. This Friday, June 24, Netflix is releasing the Woody Harrelson and Kevin Hart action comedy film The Man from Toronto.

Considering Hart is known for his adult comedy and Harrelson has starred in plenty of R-rated films, it’s understandable that parents would want to check on the content and maturity rating for this goofy comedy movie.

Luckily, parents are in luck, as The Man from Toronto is pretty tame compared to some of Hart and Harrelson’s previous works and it is only rated PG-13. Below, we’ve provided more detail regarding the movie’s rating and the reasoning behind it so parents can feel more confident about what they might be watching younger viewers.

The Man from Toronto parents guide and age rating

The Man from Toronto is rated PG-13. According to the official MPAA film rating website, PG-13 movies might contain content that is inappropriate for children under the age of 13. Parents are urged to be cautious.

In the case of this action adventure film starring Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson, the PG-13 rating is due to violence throughout, some strong language and suggestive material. Having seen the film, I can say that the rating is mostly related to violence, as there are guns, fights and intense action sequences throughout the movie.

If you and your family have watched other PG-13 Kevin Hart movies together, such as Ride Along, Central Intelligence, Night School, or even the live-action Jumanji films, then The Man from Toronto should be suitable for you and your young kids, as there isn’t anything overly gratuitous in the film.

There is also no sexual content in this movie, although, as mentioned above, there are some suggestive jokes related to Teddy (Hart) and his wife, Lori (Jasmine Mathews), but it is very mild.

The Man from Toronto releases this Friday, June 24, only on Netflix.
