Dead End: Paranormal Park is the latest animated show to be added to Netflix’s vast library of original movies and shows! The series follows two teens (and a talking pug) who encounter demons and overall spookiness at a local haunted park. The show is diverse and features a trans character, Barney (voiced by Zach Barack) as its lead.

But is the show appropriate for kids? Find out below!

The official synopsis, provided by Netflix’s media center, reads:

“Based on Hamish Steele’s horror-comedy graphic novels DeadEndia and web short Dead End, Dead End: Paranormal Park follows the adventures of Barney, Norma and magical-talking-dog Pugsley, as they balance their summer jobs at the local theme park haunted house while battling the totally real supernatural forces that dwell within it. Together with their guide to the underworld multiplane, a sardonic thousand-year-old demon named Courtney, they’ll face zombie mascots, demonic game show hosts, sleep-sucking witches and the scariest thing of all: their first crushes!”

Is Dead End: Paranormal Park appropriate for kids?

Yes, but it depends on how young. The show is considered to be “too scary for some children, especially ones who are younger or more sensitive.”

Death, demons, and possessions might not usually be on your list of essentials when looking to choose a show to introduce your kids to, but for Dead End: Paranormal Park it’s a staple. While this might concern you, the lovable, heartwarming, funny, and spooky show will surely win you over in no time!

The animated series is extremely diverse, thought-provoking, and deals with some hard-hitting topics in a light and fun manner. While the show is geared toward the older kids, it can be enjoyed by anyone and opens up conversations on the LGBTQ+ community, mental health, as well as race and diversity.

Dead End: Paranormal Park age rating

The official rating provided by IMDb states that Dead End: Paranormal Park is rated as “TV-Y7” meaning that the show is suitable for kids aged seven and up.

However, Common Sense Media has stated that due to some of the spookier elements in the show, the short form series would be best enjoyed by older kids, such as 10 and above, and we’ve got to agree! 10 and above sounds fair.
