We’re quickly approaching the second summer month, and the lineup of new Netflix movies and shows coming in July looks very promising. But there was one show in particular that we were hoping to see the release of this July and it’s That ’90s Show. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a while longer to finally set our eyes on the That ’70s Show spinoff because That ’90s Show will not be making its way to Netflix in July.
Fans of That ’70s Show had been waiting for years to see the teen sitcom be rebooted or have some kind of spinoff. It’s been a long time coming, but luckily our favorite streamer picked up a spinoff with a series order of 10 episodes back in October 2021.
The initial announcement also revealed that the original creators, Bonnie and Terry Turner, had signed on as executive producers along with their daughter Lindsey Turner for the new show. In addition, Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp would be reprising their roles as Red and Kitty Forman, respectively. Smith and Rupp would also serve as executive producers alongside the Turners, Marcy Carsey, and Tom Werner. Lastly, Gregg Mettler would be serving as showrunner.
In February 2022, the streamer announced the complete main cast. People were over the moon with all the updates about That ’90s Show, but they were still hoping that the main cast from That ’70s Show would be a part of the spinoff in some way. On April 30, everyone’s wishes came true and it was reported that Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, and Wilmer Valderrama were all set to make guest appearances. Even Tommy Chong, who played Leo in the original series, would be making an appearance.
So when will That ’90s Show come to Netflix? Sadly, we don’t have an official release date yet, but we’re always up for sharing our release date predictions.
That ’90s Show release updates
Production reportedly started on Feb. 7 and is expected to end on June 24, which is today. After the show wraps production, it should immediately enter post-production. For a show like That ’90s Show, we’re probably looking at a timeframe of three to four months spent in post-production. So this would put the release date sometime in September or October.
Post-production can take up to six months, so there’s a chance we won’t see the show until December. However, we don’t think Netflix would hold That ’90s Show release until 2023. That just seems like an unnecessarily long wait. So for now, expect a fall 2022 release.
Once Netflix announces the official release date, you can count on us at Gizmo Blaze to share it right away!
