The Origin streaming on Netflix? (where to stream)

Lifetime has no shortage of V.C. Andrews’s novels to adapt, it seems. The network has already made movies out of the Flowers in the Attic book series, and now a limited series based on a prequel novel is coming out this weekend! That said, the prequel novel that forms the basis of the series is not by V.C. Andrews. Flowers in the Attic: The Origin is based on Andrew Neiderman’s book, Garden of Shadows.

The series is about the headstrong Olivia Winfield who is courted by one of the nation’s most eligible bachelors, Malcolm Foxworth. After falling in love, Olivia finds herself the new mistress of Foxworth Hall, where she soon learns that her fairytale life harbors a dark secret.

Those who have followed along with the original Flowers in the Attic know that Olivia eventually becomes the primary antagonist of the story as she locks her grandchildren in the attic and things evolve into increasingly horrific territory. The new series will take a look at how Olivia became the villainous and abusive woman we know her as in the movies and novels.

Kelsey Grammar, Hannah Dodd, Paul Wesley, Max Irons, Harry Hamlin, Kate Mulgrew, Luke Fetherston, T’Shan Williams, Alana Boden, Callum Kerr and Buck Braithwaite star in the series.

Where to watch Flowers in the Attic: The Origin

The series premieres on Saturday, July 9, 2022. Episodes air at 8/9c. The best way to watch the show is to watch live on the Lifetime network via cable or a digital television provider like Sling TV, Hulu Live or YouTube Live. You can also record or use on-demand to watch shows that way.

Another option is to watch via the Lifetime website or app, but you’ll need a TV provider to log-in and watch. Otherwise, you might have to wait and see if Flowers in the Attic: The Origin eventually streams on Hulu, which it should in the near future. It’s also possible that the miniseries could end up streaming on Discovery+, as some Lifetime content has done in the past.

For now, if you really want to watch the show, your best bet is to get a digital provider like the ones mentioned above. There are four episodes in total and they will air across four Saturday nights.

Will Flowers in the Attic: The Origin be on Netflix?

Most likely the miniseries will not stream on Netflix. Lifetime is owned by A&E Networks, which itself is jointly owned by Hearst Communications and Disney.

Most Lifetime content goes to Hulu, since Hulu is owned by Disney. Occasionally really old Lifetime movies will go to Netflix or Prime Video, but generally speaking, Lifetime Originals are saved for Hulu or Lifetime’s own platform.
