Summertime Render Season 2 on Disney+ is unlikely but a Summer Time Rendering 2026 movie or OVA is possible

While some anime fans may wish for Disney+ USA to release a Summer Time Rendering sequel, it seems very unlikely that a Summertime Render Season 2 release date will ever happen.

Instead, we’re predicting that a short movie or OVA adaptation could be made of the spin-off, Summer Time Rendering 2026: The Room that Dreams of Murder (Summertime Render 2026: Mizen Jikobukken).

The reason that Summer Time Rendering Season 2 is unlikely is the fact that the manga series by creator Yasuki Tanaka is a finished story. Digitally serialized online in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ from October 2017 through February 2021, the Summer Time Rendering manga’s ending in Chapter 139 was released as part of Volume 13.

(Interestingly enough, Yasuki was once an assistant to JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure manga creator Akari Hirohiko. This cycle continued since the author of My Hero Academia, Kouhei Horikoshi, was previously an assistant to Yasuki!)

Summertime Render Season 1 was a total of 25 episodes in two cours. What’s a “cour,” you might ask? For those unfamiliar with the lingo, a “cour” is a three-month block of TV broadcasting based on the physical seasons usually composed of 10 to 13 episodes.

Summertime Render Part 2 began with Episode 13, which was released on July 7, 2022. Assuming there are no delays, the first season’s finale, Summertime Render Episode 25, will release on September 30, 2022.

Summer Time Rendering Episode 13 adapted manga Chapters 64 through 68. Assuming that the adaptation pacing remains the same, the first season is on track for adapting the entire main story up through Chapter 139.

The Summer Time Rendering Part 2 trailer was released in early July 2022.

That is why Summertime Render Season 2 seems very unlikely unless the original author creates a longer direct sequel in addition to the Summertime Render spin-off. The good news is that the spin-off is technically a sequel that focuses on the future of some of the characters.

This article provides everything that is known about Summertime Render Season 2 (Summer Time Rendering Season 2) and all related news. As such, this article will be updated over time with news, rumors, and analysis. Meanwhile, let’s delve down into what is known for certain.

What would the Summertime Render movie/OVA be about?

The Summer Time Rendering movie could be based on the manga spin-off Summertime Render 2026: Mizen Jikobukken which was released on Shonen Jump+ on April 14 and 15, 2022. The story and art were created by Yasuki Tanaka.

The English title is Summertime Rendering 2026: The Room that Dreams of Murder. Online service MANGA Plus published the English translation of the spin-off on April 18, 2022.

The Summer Time Rendering 2026 story is set in the future after the events of the main story and it’s about novelist Ryunosuke Nagumo aka Hizuru Minakata. Her niece Haine has been accepted into Tokyo University so they’re going apartment hunting. They discover a large apartment that’s available for a good price… but the only reason it’s cheap is that it’s haunted!

Since the short story is only two chapters long it would probably best be adapted as a Summertime Render OVA episode. However, even short story arcs adapted into anime are sometimes first screened in movie theaters before being released on TV and/or streaming platforms.

Summertime Render USA release date on Disney+ coming soon?

Unfortunately, the Summer Time Rendering USA release date on Disney+ US has not been announced yet. The anime is already streaming episodes weekly in Japan and other international countries, but for the United States, the full season is being held back for binge-watching.

The Summertime Render Episode 1 release date in Japan was on April 15, 2022. In Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, the anime started streaming on May 4, 2022. In Australia, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Taiwan, and Singapore, it began streaming on June 1, 2022.

Assuming that the anime will be stuck in so-called Disney+ jail until all 25 episodes are released, that means the Summertime Render USA release date will be in October 2022 at the earliest. Presumably, Americans will watch a Summer Time Rendering English dub.

The Summer Time Rendering Season 1 anime was animated by Studio OLM, the company responsible for the original Berserk anime and the Pokemon TV series, including Pokemon Ultimate Journeys, and recent popular TV series like the Odd Taxi anime.

In 2022, Studio OLM also released Komi Can’t Communicate Season 2. (It should be noted that a large percentage of the work for Komi S2 was outsourced since OLM Team Kojima was busy creating the two consecutive cours for Summertime Render.)

In the future, Studio OLM is releasing Megaton Musashi Season 2 in Fall 2022 and Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro Season 2 in 2023.

The Summer Time Rendering anime project was helmed by director Ayumu Watanabe, who is best known for his work on Doraemon, After The Rain, and Children of the Sea.

Writer Hiroshi Seko handled the scripts and series composition. He’s been working on a long list of popular anime, including Vinland Saga Season 2, Attack On Titan The Final Season Part 3, Mob Psycho 100 Season 3, Spriggan 2022, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace, and Chainsaw Man Season 1.

Artist Miki Matsumoto (Major 2nd, Angels of Death) was the character designer. Ryuichi Takada and Keigo Hoashi (Frame Arms Girl) were the music composers.

The Summertime Render OP (opening) theme song music “The Stars Swim (Hoshi ga Oyogu)” was performed by Macaroni Enpitsu, while the ED “Kaika” was performed by cadode. The Summer Time Rendering Part 2 OP “Natsuyume Noisy” was performed by Asaka, while the 2nd ED “Shitsuren Song Takusan Kiite Naite Bakari no Watashi wa Mou” was performed by Riria.

The Summer Time Rendering Blu-Ray box set will be released as two volumes. The first volume will be released on August 31, 2022, and Volume 2 on November 30, 2022.

Summertime Render live-action TV show already in development

Before the anime premiered in April 2022, the Summertime Render manga had 1.5 million copies in circulation. By the end of June 2022, the manga had 1.7 million copies in circulation. To put that number in perspective, the manga had 560,000 copies in circulation back in February 2021 when the manga ended.

When Summertime Render Chapter 139 was released in February 2021, the franchise announced the eventual anime, a real escape game, and a Summer Time Rendering live-action TV show.

The real escape game was already run at the Wakayama prefecture’s island of Tomogashima in Summer 2021. Unfortunately, there haven’t been any updates on the progress of the live-action Summer Time Render TV show since its announcement.

While that’s not Summertime Render Season 2, at least anime fans have something else to look forward to in the future. Stay tuned!
