About a year after we had our jaws dropped by the Virgin River season 3 finale, Virgin River season 4 is here and it’s even more dramatic than the last installment! This time around, we have 12 episodes to stream instead of the usual 10, so get comfortable for a fun binge-session. Popcorn and tissues are necessary for this season as we get to see what happens next for Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson), along with our other favorite characters.
And good news for Hope McCrea (Annette O’Toole) fans, because the beloved character has returned! Viewers were so sad that she was barely in season 3 due to COVID-19 filming limitations, and were scared to see what would happen next for her. As you’ll remember, it’s revealed in season 3 that Hope is involved in a bad car accident, which leaves her in the hospital with a brain injury.
Spoilers ahead for Virgin River season 4.
Now that Virgin River season 4 is out, we know that Hope is fortunately back home and recovering. But it’s not all smooth sailing for her. At the start of the season, it’s really hard for her to get back to her normal life, and she doesn’t even want to spend time with her friends. She’s not cleared to drive, and so she stays home by herself a lot of the time. Gradually, she starts becoming herself again and finally hangs out with the ladies. But it’s obvious that the situation is really difficult for her.
What is Hope’s TBI in Virgin River season 4?
Because of her accident, Hope has to go to the doctor for check-ups, despite her desperately trying to get out of them. Throughout the season, there’s a reference to something called “TBI.” Don’t know what that is? We don’t blame you! But it’s a simple abbreviation. “TBI” stands for “traumatic brain injury,” which is what Hope suffered in the car accident.
By the end of Virgin River season 4, Hope finally agrees to hire an at-home aide to help her around the house. She’s having trouble with decision-making and the doctor suggests having someone around all the time. Hope offers the job to Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale), but we don’t get to see whether or not she accepts because of other circumstances, namely her fall-out with Denny (Kai Bradbury). We’re sure we’ll be seeing Lizzie over at Hope’s everyday come Virgin River season 5.
You can stream all 12 episodes of Virgin River season 4 right now! And get ready for Virgin River season 5 which is confirmed to be in the works. The next season does not have a release date yet.
