Which cast members are most likely to return?

Virgin River season 4 might have only just arrived, but work has already begun on the show’s next season! That’s right, Virgin River has already been renewed for season 5 meaning we don’t have to spend the next several weeks worrying whether a new season will be ordered by Netflix.

Not only is another season already in the works, but production on season 5 is actually already underway with the creative team already bringing the Virgin River season 5 cast together to begin work on the new season of Netflix’s hit romantic drama.

Days before Virgin River season 4’s release on Netflix, the official Virgin River Instagram account revealed that production had begun on season 5 by sharing a snapshot of the cast during a table read for the upcoming season.

Not only was the photo a great way to celebrate the start of production on season 5, but it also seemed to confirm key details regarding who will be back as part of the Virgin River season 5 cast!

Virgin River season 5 cast

Although season 4 has only just arrived, production has already begun on Virgin River season 5 as the cast has come together for the first table read of the season — which has helped to provide us with our first look at the Virgin River season 5 cast.

In looking at those attendance for the season 5 table read, we can confirm the following cast members will be returning for season in at least some role:

  • Alexandra Breckenridge as Mel Monroe
  • Martin Henderson as Jack Sheridan
  • Annette O’Toole as Hope McCrea
  • Tim Matheson as Dr. Vernon Mullins
  • Benjamin Hollingsworth as Dan Brady
  • Zibby Allen as Brie Sheridan
  • Gwynyth Walsh as Jo Ellen
  • Colin Lawrence as  John ‘Preacher’ Middleton
  • Sarah Dugdale as Lizzie
  • Jenny Cooper as Joey Barnes
  • Nicola Cavendish as Connie
  • Chase Petriw as Christopher
  • Kai Bradbury as Denny Cutler
  • Mark Ghanime as Dr. Cameron Hayek
  • Marco Grazzini as Mike Valenzuela
  • Teryl Rothery as Muriel
  • Steve Bacic as Vince
  • Christina Jastrzembska as Lydie
  • Trevor Lerner as Bert Gordon
  • Lucia Walters as Julia
  • Keith MacKechnie as Nick
  • Emma Oliver as Young Mel

While not present on the virtual table read call, it’s also expected that Lauren Hammersley and Lexa Doig will return as Charmaine Roberts and Paige Lassiter, respectively. It’s also possible we could see Daniel Gillies make another cameo as Mark Monroe.

The one cast member whose future remains most uncertain heading into season 5 is Grayson Gurnsey, whose character Ricky was last seen leaving town as season 4 came to a close. Although it’s possible he could return next season, Gurney’s absence on the season 5 table read call does seem to hint that Ricky might be leaving Virgin River.

In addition to returning cast members, it’s also expected we’ll meet at least a few new faces next season but no new casting announcements have been made just yet.

Virgin River season 4 is streaming now on Netflix.
