Netflix is adding 21 new movies and shows this week

July is almost over but Netflix still has plenty of new movies and shows to add to its lineup before the month ends. This week brings a new documentary, a new season of Netflix series, a new romantic drama, and a new rom-com series.

First up this week is a documentary about Shania Twain. Shania Twain: Not Just a Girl hits Netflix on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 and looks into the career and life of the famous country singer. The doc will feature Shania Twain, Avril Lavigne, Lionel Richie, Diplo, and Orville Peck. The film shows how she was able to cross genres and be popular with both country and pop fans.

Take a look at the trailer below:

Netflix’s Rebelde is also back for a second season on Wednesday, July 27. Likely, season 2 will begin where season 1’s cliffhanger left off which means figuring out what is going on with Luke’s father’s hidden child. We don’t know who that is yet so that’s likely to be one of the major things we learn this season.

There will also likely be some sort of aftermath after La Logia’s secret was revealed by the Sin Nombre (now Rebelde) band.

Rebelde season 2 and Uncoupled on Netflix this week

This season’s other big plot point is that one of the teachers is going to pick a student to make an EP and “launch them into stardom.” Where was this opportunity at my school??

And as always, there are going to be a bunch of amazing musical performances!

There are also a few romances coming this week. The first is Purple Hearts which hits Netflix on Friday, July 29. The film tells the story of Cassie, a singer-songwriter, Cassie, and Luke, a Marine, marrying to receive military benefits. Except we all know what happens when a relationship starts out fake. Those fake feelings soon turn real.

And things get very real when Luke comes back from war injured and he and Cassie have to figure out what their life is. It also doesn’t help when she becomes famous and everyone seems to be watching.

Check out the trailer below:

For a romance that’s on the lighter side, Uncoupled is also coming to Netflix on Friday, July 29. The eight-episode series stars Neil Patrick Harris and follows a 40-something gay man who is blindsided when his husband of 17 years leaves him.

He not only has to figure out how to live without the man he loves, but he also has to figure out how to be single again. This leads to lots of hilarious shenanigans, but hopefully, some love too.
