When could season 2 arrive on Netflix?

We’ve officially entered the month of August and we’re ecstatic about all the new releases scheduled to land on Netflix. This month, we’ll be seeing the releases of The SandmanLocke and Key season 3, Never Have I Ever season 3, and so much more. But unfortunately, we won’t be seeing Ginny and Georgia season 2 make its way to the streamer. This is such a bummer.

Ginny and Georgia premiered on Netflix in February 2021, and people swarmed the streamer to see what the teen series was about. Although it was faced with several controversies (one involving Taylor Swift), most people enjoyed the show about a dysfunctional yet loving mother-daughter relationship. It was reported that 52 million subscribers watched the first season within the first 28 days after its release. With that many people watching the series, Netflix had to go ahead and renew it for a second season. Ginny and Georgia was officially renewed in April 2021.

Principal photography on Ginny and Georgia season 2 began in November 2021 and lasted five months. Since April 23, the second season has been in post-production, being edited to perfection. Netflix shows typically spend about six to eight months in post-production before being released. Sometimes post-production can be cut even shorter with a show spending only four to five months in this phase. So what does this mean for the Ginny and Georgia season 2 release date?

When could Ginny and Georgia season 2 arrive on Netflix?

We’re patiently waiting on the day Netflix announces the release date for Ginny and Georgia season 2. Fingers crossed, the streamer does so soon. While we wait for the release date announcement, we’ve come up with our own release predictions on when the second season could possibly arrive on Netflix.

As we mentioned earlier, Netflix shows typically spend about six to eight months in post-production. As of Aug. 3, the second season has spent a little over three months in post-production. We’re expecting the show to spend at least six months in post-production before landing on Netflix. If the teen series spends six months in post-production, this will put the release date sometime in October. However, there’s a chance the show might spend the full eight months in post-production, which would put the release date sometime in December.

These are merely predictions, and Netflix might surprise us by dropping the second season in September. This would mean the second season spent five months in post-production. If this were to be the case, Netflix would most likely announce the release date by the end of August. There’s also the possibility of Netflix holding Ginny and Georgia season 2 to next year, but we’re hoping this doesn’t happen.

For now, expect Ginny and Georgia season 2 to be released on Netflix somewhere between October and December 2022.  We’ll definitely share the official release date once Netflix announces it!
